FAQ

Where can I keep up with new releases, reviews, and other book news?

Join Jami’s Newsletter. I send 1-2 a month. These will contain everything. New releases, deals (some are my books and some are not – I like to team up with other authors) giveaways, my personal life, and more. Check out a newsletter or two here.

Follow Jami on Bookbub. This has everything strictly book news, plus recommendations from Jami. Definitely where to be if you just want book information.

Follow Jami on Goodreads. This is great for new releases and ARC Giveaways.

Follow Jami on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok. I’ll be honest, social media isn’t something I’m good with. If you are happy with a sporadic post here or there on books and here or there on my home life, this is for you.

When did you start writing?

2013

Why do you write?

I write because I want to make others feel the way books have made me feel. They’ve given me hope, courage, dreams. I want to do that for someone else.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Everything around me.

Do you have a favorite place to write or can you write anywhere?

As long as my mind isn’t distracted by my real life, I can write just about anywhere. If I had to choose, I would prefer my house.

How did you decide you wanted to publish?

Why not? Millions of people enjoy reading. I could be one more option for them.

How did you decide whether you wanted to publish with a company or self-publish?

Self-publishing gives me endless options. I love knowing I can do anything I want for my readers.

Would you ever self-publish?

Yes.

When was your first book published and which one was it?

May 2015 and the title is DATE IN THE DARK.

How many books do you have published?

Nine

Are any of your characters based off your life or someone you know?

No.

What is your favorite book so far that you have written?

I love all my books, but whatever book I am currently writing is usually my favorite. In my head, they keep getting better and better so I love all my new stories!

How long does it take you to write a book?

Since I don’t have everything down to perfection yet (and never will) it takes me longer than most authors. I’d say 4-6 months at the quickest.

Have you ever had a book declined by a publisher? If yes, what made you keep going?

Yes, many times. What might not be right for one publisher, might be perfect for another. It’s a standard response, but a true fact.

So far, what book has been the hardest to write? Why?

I used to think the first book in the Black Alcove series was the hardest because it would determine if a reader kept reading. But now, I think the latest book is the hardest to write because I want to write a book that keeps my readers wanting more and more no matter if it’s a series or not.

Of all the authors and books out there, which one is your favorite?

I have so many to choose from!

If this is your dream, don’t give up.  Any dream takes hard work and dedication. Rejection can only make you stronger.

Vanilla or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

What is your favorite type of vacation?
